Dunedin sharebroker Eion Edgar might have moved to Queenstown, but his influence continues to be felt in his former hometown.

In 2004 he launched his latest project, Queenstown Resort College, a private educational venture in which he is a major shareholder.

Edgar retired in 2003 as chancellor of the University of Otago but maintained his business links to Dunedin through chairmanship of national share broking firm Forsyth Barr. He is also a former chairman of the New Zealand Stock Exchange.

Edgar's main interest after business and education in sport. He was president of the New Zealand Olympic Committee and the lead donor of Dunedin's Edgar Sports Centre.
