Dr Brian Perry

Brian Perry's entrepreneurial bent emerged when in his late teens, he set up his own earth-moving company in 1954. Perry soon recognized other opportunities and formed Brian Perry Drainage to diversify into pipe-laying. During the 1960s and 1970s Perry diversified further, establishing Perry Wellpoint Dewatering System to keep up with the increased scale of pipeline projects and then Perry Metal Protection and Perry Aggregates.

Financially successful before he was 30, Perry also set up the Perry Foundation in 1976. The foundation has supported many community initiatives with grants and sponsorships covering a wide spectrum throughout the Waikato and the Bay of Plenty regions. In 2005 Hamilton City Council awarded Brian the Freedom of the City - its highest honour - in recognition of his five decades of business and philanthropic contributions to the community.
