Sir Neil Isaac - QSO
Timaru-born Neil Isaac worked in construction before volunteering for the New Zealand Army during World War II. He and wife Diana, whom he married in Delhi, spent a short time building irrigation dams as contractors in remote areas of India.
After settling in New Zealand, the Isaacs established the Isaac Construction Company and bought a property in Harewood, Christchurch.
The Isaacs progressively bought adjoining land which they replanted to create a much-improved environment and an ideal habitat for native birds.
The Isaac Wildlife Trust, formed in 1977, ensured this environment, now known as Peacock Springs Wildlife Park and the Diana Isaac Conservation Trust, would be retained for the public to enjoy.
