Bill Buckley is the founder of Buckley Systems Limited, the world’s leading supplier of precision electromagnets used in the manufacture of more than 90% of the world’s silicon chips. Bill took an early interest in nuclear physics before embarking on a career in engineering and later, the goal of building electromagnets. In 1986,
Bill established a new company to enter the US market and today, Buckley Systems Limited's range of products are not only used in the semiconductor ion implant industry but also medical proton and photon therapy – systems that will revolutionise cancer treatments of the future.
Bill is a generous supporter of the motor-racing community and has been recognised with multiple awards for his success including the 2013 World Class New Zealander Award for Manufacturing, Design and Innovation and a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit award for services to technology, business and motorsport.
