Ronald Alexander Jarden
Lower Hutt-born Ron Jarden, best known as a dynamic All Black wing three-quarter, was a man of extraordinary talent who was successful in a variety of spheres.
Jarden's representative rugby career started when he was 19 when he played on the wing for Wellington. Two years later he was in the All Blacks, having established himself as a rugby genius.
At the age of 26 Jarden quit the game after a short but spectacular career of 37 matches for the All Blacks, including 16 tests. He then devoted himself to business, eventually forming his own sharebroking firm, R A Jarden & Company (later Jarden & Company), which groomed many of the countrys finest brokers.
